In a video shared on her social media platforms on Wednesday, the singer expressed regret over the reactions that trailed her earlier remarks, saying she never intended to undermine the pain of the victims, their families, or concerned Nigerians.
According to Alaseyori, her previous message was aimed at encouraging prayers and support for efforts to address the country's security challenges, but she acknowledged that some members of the public interpreted her comments differently.
“I did a video two days ago about the kidnapped children, touching on government, parastatals and every agency. But when I woke up yesterday, I found out that some well-meaning Nigerians were not happy about it, as I made them feel their voices are unheard,” she said.
The gospel artiste noted that she was deeply saddened by the criticism and appealed for understanding, particularly from parents who may have been offended by her comments.
“You know me too well that I would never make you feel like that. Mothers, do not be offended. I am sorry. I beg in God's name. Please, forgive me. I would never think like that. Pardon and forgive me,” she added.
The controversy erupted after Alaseyori released a video urging Nigerians to continue praying for the nation amid growing concerns over insecurity. In the video, she also stated that the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu was making efforts to tackle insecurity and secure the release of abducted victims.
Her comments, however, triggered heated debates across social media, with many Nigerians insisting that beyond prayers, authorities must take concrete steps to curb the rising wave of kidnappings and protect citizens.
The incident involving the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area has continued to generate national concern, prompting renewed calls for stronger security measures and swift action to ensure the safe return of those held captive.
Citizens, civil society groups and community leaders have continued to urge security agencies to intensify rescue operations while addressing the root causes of insecurity across the country.
