President Bola Tinubu on Friday received the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja.
The visit comes less than four months after Oba Ladoja’s formal installation as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland in September 2025, and just a day after Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, also visited the President.
This meeting marked the monarch’s first official visit to President Tinubu since ascending the throne. However, details of discussions held during the closed-door meeting were not disclosed.
Oba Ladoja, a former governor of Oyo State, served between May 2003 and January 2006 under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He ascended the Olubadan throne following the death of his predecessor, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who passed away in July 2025 after a brief reign of about one year.
Ladoja emerged as Olubadan in line with Ibadan’s rotational chieftaincy system, which alternates between the civil (Egbe Agba) and military (Balogun) ruling lines. The late Oba Olakulehin hailed from the Balogun line.
Prior to his ascension, Oba Ladoja had served as the Otun Olubadan since August 2024, a position that placed him first in the line of succession. His appointment was formally approved by Governor Seyi Makinde in September 2025.
