The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Basiru, has stated that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is working for the APC-led administration despite not being a member of the party.
Basiru made the clarification while speaking during an appearance on TVC’s Beyond The Headlines, noting that Wike serves under the government of President Bola Tinubu.
According to him, the infrastructural development witnessed across the Federal Capital Territory over the past two and a half years played a major role in the party’s success in the recent local government elections in the FCT.
Basiru said the improvements were noticeable not only in the city centre but also in suburban communities, describing the minister’s performance as impressive.
He added that Wike’s administrative efforts, combined with the party’s strategic engagement and selection of credible candidates across different political backgrounds, contributed significantly to the APC’s electoral victory.
“Wike is not a member of our party, but he works for an APC government headed by Tinubu,” Basiru said.
He noted that the scale of infrastructural development across the FCT under the present administration reflects effective governance and delivery of democratic dividends.
Basiru maintained that the achievements recorded under the current FCT administration cannot be separated from the APC’s success at the polls.
He said the party’s victory in the FCT local government elections was a result of both effective governance and deliberate political strategy.
