Olubadan Pays Courtesy Visit to Sanwo-Olu, Appreciates Lagos for Coronation Support
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has paid a courtesy visit to Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at the Lagos House, expressing heartfelt appreciation for the support he received during his coronation.
Speaking during the visit, Oba Ladoja explained that his presence in Lagos was primarily to extend gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Sanwo-Olu, and the people of Lagos State for their roles in making his coronation a memorable and successful event.
The monarch noted that several high-profile dignitaries from Lagos honoured the occasion, including the White Cap Chiefs, members of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), traditional rulers, and members of the Lagos State Executive Council. According to him, their attendance demonstrated the strong historical and cultural ties between Lagos and Ibadan.
Oba Ladoja also reflected on his longstanding relationship with Lagos, recalling that he spent part of his early life in Surulere and later worked in different parts of the state, including Apapa, Lagos Island, and Ikoyi. He described Lagos as a place that contributed significantly to his personal and professional development.
The Olubadan further commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for what he described as visible progress and sustained development across Lagos State. He praised the administration’s efforts in infrastructure, governance, and economic growth, noting that the state continues to set the pace for urban development in Nigeria.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, while receiving the monarch, reaffirmed Lagos State’s commitment to maintaining strong relationships with traditional institutions across the country. He acknowledged the importance of royal fathers in promoting peace, cultural preservation, and community development.
The visit highlights the enduring bond between Lagos and Ibadan, reinforcing cooperation between both regions in areas of tradition, governance, and socio-economic advancement.
