The Super Eagles of Nigeria have recorded a major rise in the latest FIFA World Rankings, climbing 12 places to 26th position globally.
The new rankings, released on Monday, reflect Nigeria’s impressive performance at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, where the Super Eagles finished third overall.
Nigeria had previously been ranked 38th in the world but surged upward following their strong showing at the continental tournament.
On the African ranking chart, the Super Eagles are now the third-best team on the continent. They trail AFCON champions Senegal, who are ranked 12th globally, and tournament hosts Morocco, who sit eighth in the world.
Algeria and Egypt occupy the fourth and fifth spots respectively among African teams.
Globally, Spain leads the world rankings, followed by Argentina and France. England, Brazil, Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and Croatia complete the top 10.
The significant leap in the rankings is expected to boost confidence within the Super Eagles camp as they prepare for upcoming international fixtures and future tournaments.
