The Special Adviser on Politics to Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, Munirudeen Raji, has disclosed that the Adeleke political camp will support President Bola Tinubu’s second-term ambition ahead of the 2027 general election.
Raji, who is also a chieftain of the Accord Party in Osun State, made the revelation on Monday while speaking on a current affairs programme, Lero Temi, in Osogbo.
He admitted that Governor Adeleke’s political machinery worked against Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election but stressed that the camp has now resolved to back the President in 2027.
“President Bola Tinubu belongs to all of us. I even stated in a forum recently that when electioneering campaigns start, whenever we print Governor Adeleke’s posters, we will ensure that President Bola Tinubu is included so that the electorate will know we are also campaigning for him,” Raji said.
“We will vote for Governor Ademola Adeleke for governor and also vote for Bola Tinubu for president. I can guarantee that President Bola Tinubu will win the 2027 presidential election. Even though we voted against him during the 2023 presidential election, we are now saying that we will vote for him, and he will win the forthcoming presidential election.”
Raji also clarified the political standing of Governor Adeleke, insisting that the Osun governor and all his appointed officials are members of the Accord Party, even though elected representatives in the state still belong to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He dismissed reports of factionalisation within the Accord Party in Osun, attributing such claims to mischief by opposition elements.
“There is no faction in Osun Accord. This is just mischief from the opposition, and INEC has also insisted that there is no faction in Accord,” he stated.
On the forthcoming governorship election in the state, Raji expressed confidence that Governor Adeleke would secure a second term, noting that the electorate remains solidly behind him.
“The electorate still wants Governor Adeleke, and this gives us the confidence that he will be re-elected come August 8. Governor Ademola Adeleke will win the August 8 election because he is a man of the people. The people of Osun now know who the deceivers are,” he said.
Recalling Adeleke’s political journey, Raji said the governor was unfairly edged out in 2018 through what he described as an inconclusive election, but eventually emerged victorious in 2022.
“In 2018, Adeleke won, but an inconclusive election was used to edge him out. In 2022, another election was held, but this time around, Governor Adeleke won. They said he could only dance, but that dancing is what brought Osun the much-needed dividends of democracy,” he added.
Raji’s remarks signal a possible political realignment ahead of 2027, with the Osun governor’s camp now pledging support for President Tinubu while consolidating its hold on the state.
