The rescue operation was carried out at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, bringing an end to days of anxiety for the family and well-wishers following the victims’ abduction earlier in the week.
According to reports, two suspected kidnappers were neutralised during an exchange of gunfire with police operatives, while two firearms were recovered from the criminal gang.
The victims include the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, who was abducted alongside her twin sons on June 3, 2026, while reportedly on their way to drop the children at school.
Police sources revealed that sustained intelligence gathering, surveillance and tactical operations helped security personnel track the kidnappers' movements, eventually forcing them into a confrontation with law enforcement officers.
The operation culminated in the successful rescue of all three victims, who were recovered alive.
Security sources further disclosed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate believed to have escaped during the gun duel.
Operatives have reportedly launched a manhunt across nearby communities and forests, with some of the fleeing suspects suspected to have sustained gunshot wounds during the confrontation.
The successful rescue has been welcomed by residents and concerned citizens who had followed the case closely since news of the abduction emerged earlier this week.
Authorities have assured the public that investigations are continuing and that all individuals connected to the crime will be brought to justice.
