Nollywood star Funke Akindele is once again making waves as her blockbuster film Behind the Scenes heads to Netflixfollowing a historic cinema run.
The film, which premiered in Nigerian cinemas on December 12, 2025, became a massive success, grossing an impressive ₦2.7 billion at the box office. This milestone cements its place as the highest-grossing Nollywood film of all time and highlights the growing global appeal of African storytelling.
Behind the Scenes also performed strongly in international markets, including the United Kingdom, Ireland, the United States, and Canada, further showcasing Nollywood’s expanding global footprint.
Directed and produced by Akindele under her Funke Ayotunde Akindele Network (FAAN), with co-direction by Tunde Olaoye and distribution by FilmOne Entertainment, the movie tells a compelling story of Aderonke Faniran, portrayed by Scarlet Gomez.
The character, a successful real estate mogul and devoted mother, is admired for her generosity but gradually finds herself overwhelmed as others begin to take advantage of her kindness. The film explores themes of sacrifice, family pressure, betrayal, and emotional balance topics that deeply resonated with audiences.
