Defend your votes, we won’t allow repeat of 2023 - Peter Obi

Former Labour party presidential candidate and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Peter Obi, has called on Nigerians and members of the Obidient Movement to prepare to defend their votes in the 2027 general elections.

Obi made the appeal while addressing supporters in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State, during a mobilisation effort for the ADC. His remarks were disclosed in a statement signed by the Movement’s National Coordinator, Yunusa Tanko.

The former Anambra State governor stressed that the movement must evolve beyond enthusiasm and embrace a more organised approach to achieve electoral success.

He said the time had come for supporters to transition “from passion to structure, from structure to strategy, and from strategy to victory.”

Obi also cautioned against a repeat of the controversies that trailed the 2023 presidential election, insisting that Nigerians must remain vigilant in protecting the integrity of the electoral process.

“We will not allow a repeat of what happened in the 2023 election,” he said.

“In 2027, you will either count the votes correctly, or you will be counted. We must all be ready to defend our votes.”

Addressing members of the movement in the state, Obi expressed optimism about the future while urging unity and commitment among supporters as preparations gradually begin for the next electoral cycle.
