Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has reportedly been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Centre, Abuja, over alleged cyberbullying involving her colleague, Mercy Johnson.
According to reports, Okorie was arrested at her Lagos residence on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. She was said to have spent the night at the Yaba Police Station, Panti, before being flown to Abuja in the early hours of Wednesday to face legal proceedings.
The arrest was disclosed by journalist and founder of the Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards, Seun Oloketuyi, who shared details of the development via his Instagram page on Wednesday.
“Angela Okorie was arrested yesterday at her Lagos residence by the Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Centre, Abuja. She was put on a 6am flight to Abuja this morning to face court proceedings connected to a cybercrime matter involving Mercy Johnson,” Oloketuyi wrote.
The development comes barely a week after Mercy Johnson publicly declared that cyberbullying directed at her and her family would no longer be tolerated in 2026, warning that she would take legal action against perpetrators.
As of the time of filing this report, neither Angela Okorie nor Mercy Johnson has officially commented on the matter. The Nigeria Police Force is also yet to release an official statement detailing the allegations or charges.
Investigations and legal proceedings are expected to provide further clarity on the case.
