2027: Youths Donate ₦100m to Tinubu, Endorse Re-election

Youths of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State have formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for second terms ahead of the 2027 general elections, backing their support with a ₦100 million cheque to contribute towards the purchase of the President’s nomination form.

The endorsement and symbolic cheque presentation took place on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at the Muhammadu Buhari Square, also known as the Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre, in Lokoja. The event formed part of activities marking two years of Governor Ododo’s administration in the state.

Youth representatives drawn from all 21 local government areas of Kogi State converged at the venue, declaring their unwavering support for the Tinubu-led Federal Government and the Ododo administration. Speakers at the event praised both leaders for what they described as inclusive governance and impactful policies, particularly in road infrastructure, healthcare delivery, education, agriculture, rural electrification and human capital development.

According to the youths, the APC under President Tinubu’s leadership has remained a beacon of democracy, progress and national renewal, adding that the party’s policies have created opportunities for young people across the country.

Addressing the gathering, Kogi State APC Chairman, Abdullahi Bello, commended Governor Ododo for prioritising youth empowerment and creating platforms for young people to showcase their talents. He said the massive turnout at the event was a clear indication of the party’s growing strength and grassroots support ahead of the 2027 elections.

Bello described the APC as a youth-friendly party committed to grooming young Nigerians as future leaders and nation builders.

In his acceptance speech, Governor Ododo expressed appreciation to the youths for endorsing him and President Tinubu, noting that no previous administration had empowered young people as much as the current one. He highlighted initiatives such as the student loan scheme, youth and women empowerment programmes, and other social interventions as evidence of the administration’s commitment to inclusive development.

The governor described the endorsement as a genuine coalition aimed at strengthening the APC both at the state and national levels, assuring the youths of continued support and inclusion in governance.

Governor Ododo also lauded Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her compassion and humanitarian efforts through the Renewed Hope Initiative, which he said has positively impacted hundreds of thousands of citizens nationwide.

The event concluded with renewed calls by party stakeholders for unity and sustained mobilisation as preparations begin for the 2027 general elections.
