Renowned Nigerian gospel singer Deborah Adebola Fasoyin, popularly known as Mama Fasoyin, has been confirmed to be alive following earlier reports claiming she had passed away.
The rumour, which spread widely on social media, had prompted an outpouring of tributes from fans and gospel music lovers who believed the veteran singer had died.
However, the National President of the Gospel Musicians Association of Nigeria, Evangelist Philip Olayiwola, dismissed the report in a video shared on Facebook.
Olayiwola clarified that the gospel singer is alive and in good health, describing the circulating news of her death as false.
“I just received a fake news a few hours ago that one of our grandmas, Mama Fasoyin, is late. I want to let you know that our mama D.O. Fasoyin is alive, hale and healthy,” he said.
“Please debunk that rumour, mama is alive,” he added.
The rumour of the singer’s alleged death had earlier made the rounds online, with many already mourning and sharing tributes before the clarification was issued
