Kano Speaker, Deputy, 20 Others Resign From NNPP



 No fewer than 22 members of the Kano State House of Assembly, including the Speaker, Jibril Ismail Falgore, his Deputy, Muhammad Butu-Butu, and the Majority Leader, Lawan Hussain, have resigned their membership of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

The lawmakers also announced their full support for Governor Abba Yusuf.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Press Secretary of the Kano State House of AssemblyKamaludden Shawai, and made available to journalists in Kano.

According to Shawai, those who resigned from the NNPP include the SpeakerDeputy SpeakerMajority LeaderDeputy Majority Leader, Garba Fammar, and the Chief Whip, Muddasir Zawachiki.

Other affected lawmakers are representatives of Ajingi, Albasu, Bagwai/Shanono, Bebeji, Bunkure, Dawakin Kudu, Fagge, Gabasawa, Garko, Gwale, Karaye, Kura/Garun Malam, Madobi, Minjibir, Rano, Tarauni, and Wudil constituencies.

Shawai disclosed that a total of 22 lawmakers were involved in the defection, adding that the House had verified and authenticated the list of members as released.

He explained that the announcement was made to properly inform the public and clarify the political position of the affected lawmakers following Governor Abba Yusuf’s resignation from the NNPP.
