"Nigerians Are Suffering, But Tinubu Deserves Another Four Years” — Suswam

Former Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam, has acknowledged the economic hardship facing Nigerians but urged citizens, particularly young people, to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration, insisting that the current difficulties are part of efforts to build a stronger foundation for the country's future.

Suswam made the appeal on Friday during the PBAT Door-to-Door rally held in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, where he called on Nigerians to support Tinubu's re-election bid ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The former governor maintained that although many Nigerians are experiencing economic challenges, the administration's policies should be given more time to produce the results he believes will benefit future generations.

According to him, meaningful national development often requires difficult decisions and sacrifices, adding that the country must be prepared to endure temporary challenges to achieve long-term progress.

"There is suffering now, but there is no way you can build a future without experiencing some pains. We must experience those pains for us to be better tomorrow," Suswam said.

He argued that Nigeria might have been in a better economic position if previous administrations had implemented similar reforms, expressing confidence that Tinubu's policies would eventually deliver positive outcomes.

Suswam also urged supporters of the president to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 election, stressing that political campaigns should extend beyond rallies to direct engagement with voters in their communities.

He commended the organisers of the PBAT Door-to-Door initiative, including Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, for supporting efforts to mobilise voters for the president.

The former governor encouraged participants to return to their local government areas and communities to explain the administration's policies to family members, friends and other residents.

Speaking about his decision to align with the All Progressives Congress (APC), Suswam said he wanted to be part of what he described as an important period in Nigeria's political and economic development.

He explained that his support for Tinubu was motivated by his belief that the president was laying a foundation that future administrations could build upon.

Suswam further expressed support for Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, describing the president's economic decisions as courageous and necessary for the country's long-term development.

"Yes, there are traces of hardship, but tomorrow you will be better off for it," he stated.

His remarks come amid continuing public debate over the economic impact of the Tinubu administration's policies, with Nigerians expressing concerns about the cost of living, inflation and the financial pressures facing households.

While Suswam maintained that the reforms would eventually improve living conditions, his comments reflected his political support for the president's policies and re-election ambition rather than a confirmed assessment of their future economic outcomes.
